reasons preggers can't sleep

Most mothers-to-be would probably prefer to get as much sleep as possible before the baby arrives, but one of nature's dirty tricks is that just when you need as much rest as you can get you can't seem to get it because your back aches, your bladder's always "full", your belly's in the way and your mind is teeming with a host of different fears and anxieties concerning your baby.
Here are some of the reasons those zzz's are playing hard to get and some strategies that might help you:
 Constant need to urinate
Your bladder's capacity has shrunk significantly because of your growing uterus. Drinking as little as possible an hour or two before bedtime may limit your late-night trips to the bathroom.
 Queasiness
Since nausea (morning sickness) tends to strike on an empty stomach, eat a light, high-carbohydrate snack before you go to bed and keep some crackers or rice cakes on your night table so it's easy to grab one in the morning.
 Indigestion or heartburn
Avoid distending your stomach by eating small, frequent meals rather than three large ones. Eat well before bedtime and sit up after eating. Lay off the citrus, spices, fried foods and chocolate because they can irritate the esophagus. More on heartburn.
 Leg cramps
Many pregnant women are occasionally awakened at night by leg cramps. Try stretching your calf by flexing your foot heel first, gently massaging your leg, placing a hot water bottle on the cramped area or getting up and walking around. Eating more calcium-rich foods may also help.
 Insomnia
Insomnia is very common during pregnancy to toss and turn with excitement and anxiety as your due date approaches. Try a warm bath before bedtime and a few relaxation techniques, such as those you've learned in childbirth classes. Some women find that exercising during the day helps them sleep better at night.

BLOCKED NOSE!

Nasal congestion is a common symptom of being pregnant. It’s not really a complication because it so common and because it is caused as a direct result of the hormones present in your system while you are pregnant, specifically estrogen. Nasal congestion – also known as rhinitis of pregnancy - will affect between 20 and 30 percent of all pregnant women. It can start as early as your 8th week and may even last until you have given birth to your baby.
The increased level of estrogen during pregnancy contributes to swelling in the mucous membranes lining the nose and may even cause you to produce more mucus. Add to this the fact that you have an increased level of blood throughout your blood vessels – which expand while you are pregnant – and you have the wonderful effect of nasal congestion and increased chances of nose bleeds.

Pilis
Pilis – a type of Jamu applied to the forehead after the massage to cure dizziness, hazy vision and eyestrain.
Binders
Binders – are placed around the tummy to help increase the effectiveness of tapel and slimming creams. Best to be worn for six to ten consecutive hours, to see visible and lasting slimming results in the tummy area.

Breastfeeding Support
Breastfeeding Support – helps relieve engorged breasts and clear blocked ducts.
Tapel
Tapel – a type of Jamu applied on the midsection before putting on the binder to help firm and tighten post-delivery flab on the belly.
Baby Massage
Baby Massage – new mothers are taught a baby massage sequence to practice on their baby. It helps stimulate the baby’s sensory development and improve sleep patterns. It can also help to relieve gas and colic while creating new ways for a mother to interact and bond with her baby.

What on earth is a jamu massage???

Jamu Massage is a traditional Indonesian massage using various kinds of plants and herbal medicine.
This traditional form of Jamu medicinal therapy has its roots in South-East Asia before the 17th century.
Various types of Jamu are used to combat an assortment of illnesses as well as to help women keep fit, beautiful and slim.

A bit on the postnatal massage i will be having.

What is Post-natal Massage?

The Benefits

Of all the things a new mother can do after the birth of your baby, post-natal massage is one of the most valuable in both physical and emotional benefits.
The stress of delivery and the hours spent caring for your baby will take its toll on your body which is where post-natal massage can help reverse the ageing signs to complement the overall mental and physical recovery of your body.
Aside from assisting in successful lactation (for breastfeeding mothers), firming up the stomach muscles through a tummy-bind with special herbs and reducing water retention, post-natal massage can also provide effective relief from headache, constipation, and pain in muscles and joints.

Baby getting into her sleeping pattern!

So, i am in week 22 as of now.....gonna update you guys on what is happening. breathe breathe breathe....OI MAKAYLA STOP KICKING. lolz. I'm lying on my back with a thick blanket and lappy on top of it. Not very heavy. But somehow its the only way to make Makayla move non stop..*bad mummy* but its not heavy for her la..i researched b4. just that its the pressure from the laptop that makes my stomach more sensitive that's why i can feel her more. Anyway, zzzzz.z.....eyes closing.....zz......i was watching this movie called i know who killed me by lindey lohan...OMG...SUCKS. so boring....i fast forwarded almost the entire thing...lame storyline. SO, ok update on Makayla. As the experts say, babies form their sleeping pattern and timing from 20 weeks...it would be the same when they are outta me. So, i kinda know Makayla's sleeping pattern. STANDARD TIMING I TELL U. She's the most active during 2am-4am..moving non stop. Not forgetting 9am-12pm...and also 1pm-3pm...and yea..NOW. 5pm slot to 7pm. So these are the timings that i would needa prepare to wake up to feed her. And, when she's hungry, and i haven't been eating much in the day, she would keep moving. telling me to eat something. OH, she get's sugar high. when i drink ribena, she moves A LOT. loving it! Because whatever I eat, my amniotic fluid would taste like it. So, i know what she likes and don't. She loves curry, 100 plus, ribena and apple juice and vege and watermelon and the melon stuff. She doesn't really like kuay teow. yea, see? she kicked me. lolz. kuay teow (kick). lolz. YA I AM READING OUT LOUD WHILE TYPING. OK. While she's awake, I'm gonna do some mother daughter bonding. massage time! as in i massage my own belly...pathetic...LOL. ciao guys!

Wide awake...

actually not really wide awake...i'm quite sleepy..but...I JUST CAN'T FIND THE PERFECT POSITION TO SLEEP. GOD. I will be facing up, and hearing my own heart thump....and i can't sleep cos its SO LOUD. and i switch to right side...it was better..for 10 seconds....and i start to get restless...and it just doesn't feel good. So i turn to the left...the same happened. So i read online..if you can't sleep, don't just lie down there. get up and do smt...so i got up and drew a timeline for Makayla. ^^ from 7 weeks till now. How she's growing...how am I growing and paste everything on the wall. And Makayla is having a party inside again..or some gymnastic practice...moving here and there. lol. cutie.......guess i'm gonna sleep with the lights on tonight....somehow i only sleep during the day....lolz
